Engels geboortegedicht: ‘Before you cross the street’

She sleeps through almost every sound
even when it's screaming loud and clear
but she wakes up and smiles at a friendly voice
if it whispers softly in her ears

Double the nappies
and double the noise
Double the pleasures
and double the joys

A snuggle, cuddly, cute
baby boy....
Life with him is sure
to bring us much
wonder and joy

A little boy, so beautifull
So perfect, tiny and small
Thursday you came into my arms
And everything became wonderfull

Your big blue eyes, they touched me
As the brightness of the light
You are a new born happy star
That twinkles in the night

I hope your future will be lovely
Lacking every sorrow
May you grow to be a big boy
And make a little rainbow
